Re: "Best of London," Jan. 6

To the Editor:

Last week, a good friend of mine pointed out Dale Wyatt's review of Ching Sum in The Gazette on Jan. 6. The restaurant was described as "a vegetarian's dream come true."

We pulled out a map, grabbed a few friends together and headed out on Friday night with images of delicious mock chicken dancing in our heads. Despite the freezing weather and blowing snow, we managed to find Wilkens Street after an arduous 40-minute bus ride on the 13 Wellington. We trudged through the snow until we spotted the soft glow of a tiny strip mall.

"Hey! There it is!"

"Where?"

"There!"

"But it says ... "

"COMING SOON?!"

We squished our faces, raw from the wind, against the window pane only to see a tiny, bare room lined with wooden tables and stacked chairs.

So may I ask Dale and the rest of the staff at The Gazette – the next time you review a restaurant, would you kindly also include the name and location of the next closest restaurant just in case the first one happens to be as good as non-existent?

Editor's note: The "Best of London" issue went to print before Ching Sum went out of business. The Gazette apologizes for any hunger or frostbite suffered.
