Weekend preview

What's long, purple and keeps on stickin' it to opponents?

Give up? It's the Western men's hockey team and their 14 conference game winning streak – a streak they're hoping to prolong in a home and home series with the University of Windsor.

Western head coach Clarke Singer said he is not taking the Lancers lightly.

"I saw them play last weekend against Lakehead [University], and it was probably the best game I've ever seen them play since I started coaching [at Western]," Singer said. "They were physical, they won a lot of battles down low and capitalized on their scoring chances."

The Mustangs host the Lancers tonight at Thompson Arena before heading to Windsor for the return match tomorrow. Both games start at 7:30 p.m..

If hockey ain't your bag, then check out the women's and men's volleyballers as they play host to that Microsoft incubator, the University of Waterloo Warriors.

Game times are set for 6:30 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men. Both games will be played at Alumni Hall.

– Benjamin Mills
