Time for a revolution

Lousy government? Want to change it?

The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations and the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance will be holding an information session in the University Community Centre atrium on Thursday, Jan. 30 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., said Josh Morgan, VP-education for the University Students' Council and OUSA president.

"Our goal is to educate students and make post-secondary education an issue in the next provincial election," Morgan said, adding a team of volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions regarding CASA and OUSA, or concerning what students can do to get more involved.

"We are hoping to wrap up the [Smart Vote letter campaign]; we've already gotten 2,400 letters signed," Morgan said.

Drinking for charity

Add "charity donation" to your list of reasons to drink this Thursday.

According to Jason Grbavac, the external affairs commissioner for the Western Croatian Club, there will be a club mixer this Thursday at The Wave, beginning at 9 p.m..

Grbavac said Arab, Assyrian, Croatian, Greek and Italian clubs at Western are joining together to host the mixer and much of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

"[The Croation Club] will be donating their portion of the proceeds to the removal of landmines from Croatia," Grbavac said, adding that, even though the Croation civil war has been over for seven years, innocent people are still being killed.

"[The mixer] is an event where people can have fun and contribute to a good cause," Grbavac said.

Tickets for the event will cost $4 before the event and $5 at the door. Anyone wanting more information on tickets or the event can contact Grbavac at jgrbavac@uwo.ca.
