Pedestrian struck at Western intersection

A terrible accident occurred just outside campus Monday evening, leaving one victim in critical condition.

According to Const. Paul Martin, spokesperson for the London Police Department, the accident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. just north of the Brescia University College gates, near the intersection of Lambton and Western Roads.

Western's nine elitist buddies

An elite group of universities is beginning to raise some concerns within the Canadian academic community.

Known as the Group of 10 – or G10 – its members include Western, University of Toronto, University of Alberta, University of Waterloo, Queen's University, University of British Columbia, McMaster University, McGill University, University of Montreal and Laval University.

Professors honoured nationally

Two Western professors will be receiving one of the highest honours the Canadian government bestows upon its citizens.

G. Michael Bancroft, a professor in the department of chemistry, and David Leighton, a professor at the Richard Ivey School of Business, will become Officers in the Order of Canada in a ceremony later this year.

Student sexually assaulted

A female Western student was allegedly assaulted shortly after departing from a London night club last Saturday night.

Early Sunday morning, between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m., a 19-year-old female Western student left the Drink Night Club with a male she had met that evening, said Const. Paul Martin, spokesperson for the London Police Department.

University surpasses United Way goal

Beyond a high cell phone quotient among the student body, Western now has another reason to pat itself on the back.

A presentation announcing Western's fundraising total for this year's United Way campaign was held in University College yesterday.
