Look past daily CNN

Re: "Screw Lennon," Jan. 15

To the Editor:

I commend Mr. Allen for having strength in his conviction, being an intellectual minority, by actually describing Bush's treatment of the current tumultuous political climate as "brilliance." Allen's defense simply proves that reality is most certainly what one makes it – especially if you are willing to close both your ears as well as your eyes.

It is not just about "bleeding-heart peace activism" – such reductionism is dangerous at best; rather, it has everything to do with looking far past what CNN has to say.

I suggest Mr. Allen look further back than 10 years to a time when the United States was silently consenting Saddam Hussein's actions. Granted, it is not a black and white situation by any means, but I would rather live in a world that strives for some sort of rational harmony, rather than one that suffers through Allen's "rational warfare."
