Pipes rocks

To the Editor:

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Daniel Pipes, the acclaimed academic and scholar, for speaking at Western. He gave an excellent speech on the difficult topic of militant Islam and the War on Terror. He brought his wealth of knowledge and experience to the students of Western and his honesty and well articulated points helped clarify many of the issues that students often hear about, but rarely understand.

All who attended have surely learned some valuable information about today's geopolitical situation. It's also interesting to note how ridiculous some of the responses to Mr. Pipes's presence have been at other institutions – namely York University. As a student, I am proud that Western is able host such an acclaimed scholar. [Bringing in speakers like Pipes] truly sets this academic institution apart from the crowd.
