Purple Pipe: Moskal

Niru Somayajula/Gazette
SHE LIKES SILVER, RUNNING AND KITTENS. Purple Pipe winner Jennifer Moskal goes for gold at the CIS National Championships in Windsor this weekend.

The Purple Pipe was aimlessly floating around, looking to spread its purple love before finally landing with women's track star Jennifer Moskal.

Moskal brought a haul of silver back to Western from the Ontario University Athletics track and field championships after finishing second in four events and helping the Western women pull off the upset championship win.

Moskal's silver medals came in the 4 x 400 metre and 4 x 200m relays, the 600m and the 1,000m. In her final season running for Western, Moskal is ranked in the top 5 of the 600m, and is cruising into this weekend's Canadian Interuniversity Sport championships where she will compete in all four of her silver winning events.

The Purple Pipe gives a shout out to two of its boys – squasher Robert Nigro (former Pipe winner) and Andrew Jones for their one-two finish in the country at the university squash championships. The Western squash team has been kickin' ass and taking names all year and the Pipe knows it.
