Picking up Western's trash

To the Editor:

Every year my kids and I walk the sidewalks and paths along the University Drive Bridge picking up trash that was discarded over the winter. Last night was a new low – not because of the trash we picked up (three garbage bags in 20 minutes), but because of the student trash we encountered.

Three groups of students thought it was appropriate to heckle the efforts of my kids (six and nine-years-old). One group even winged a full pop bottle at my older child.

I do not even know how to respond other than to indicate that my kids' reaction to the incident was more mature than the students' actions. Apparently, in this case, a few university students should be going back to Grade 5.
