Dog does eat dog

Re: "Time to eat people?" Feb.18

To the Editor:

I would just like to enlighten Vivek Gupta on a couple points that he made in his letter to The Gazette regarding the debate from many weeks ago concerning the decision to eat meat or not. Mr. Gupta made a number of errors in logic that made his argument sound both unintelligent and unconvincing.

First of all, plants do not survive by consuming bacteria. This goes back to Grade 7 science. Plants, as a matter of fact, use water, sunlight, carbon dioxide and soil for photosynthesis. The bacteria are safe.

Secondly, animals do in fact eat other animals. They're called carnivores and you can see examples of animals eating other animals in a violent manner in any good National Geographic video.

I have no problem with vegetarians; people can eat what ever the hell they want. I do take issue however, when they defend their choices using a string of false facts and misinformation and label the meat-eating majority as hypocrites. Which is worse – hypocrisy or ignorance? It makes me wonder if all humans really do possess the intellect that you claim.
