Mustang briefs

WRESTLING
During the Toronto Open wrestling tournament, Western's Seth Ross brought home a gold in the 57 kg category. Ross' medal led the Mustangs to their first team win of the season. The Mustangs will compete in the McMullen open in Muskegon, Michigan this weekend.

FENCING
Steve Berkles finished in eighth place at the Brock Invitational for the men, and on the women? side, Laura McGarth -Western's only female entrant- placed 18th in the women's event. Back on the men's half, Phil Mullin placed 14th and Roger Hyde came 64th in the men's.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
The women's hockey team lost to the Brock Badgers 2-1, with their lone goal being scored by right-winger Rachel Park. The Mustangs face the Queen's Golden Gaels next Sunday in Kingston.

MEN? VOLLEYBALL
The Western men took on the Ryerson Rams this past weekend and managed to win the first two sets of the match 25-18 and 28-26. However, the Rams staged a comeback and defeated Western three sets to two. Queens will be in town next Sunday to take on the men in their next match.

SQUASH
Western hosted the women's squash West Sectionals this past weekend, but the home advantage didn? benefit the Mustangs -they lost both their matches, falling 5-1 against McMaster and 5-1 to Toronto. McMaster will host the men's West Sectionals this weekend ?the tournament begins Fri., Nov. 14.
