Jock Talk with Fergie

How were you first motivated to play rugby?
Well, both my brother and sister played during high school and where I'm from (Brampton) if you don't play rugby you might as well not play anything.

What's your position on the rugby team this year?
Well, it's my fourth year on the team and the first three years I was inside-centre. This year I'm outside centre -it's a glory position. It's a lot of hard running, kicking and hitting -by far it's the best position and the most fun.

What is the worst injury you've suffered due to rugby?
I fractured my spleen in second year and I had internal bleeding for six months. It was from multiple blows to the same area through practices and games. After that, I pretty much just ate a lot of soup, sat around on the couch and hit the gym. I could take part in the fitness aspect of rugby, but no contact.

Why do you like playing rugby?
I love getting to hit people -it's awesome to lay a person to the ground. Nothing but snot bubbles! I used to wrestle as well. I just love the contact.

If you had to choose an animal to describe you on the field, what would it be and why?
I don't know, something fast and something mean. (...overhearing the question, head coach Natascha Wesch said the Tazmanian Devil -it's aggressive and fast just like Kristen).
