Western versus McMaster

Last year's disappointing Homecoming loss to the McMaster Marauders is still fresh in the minds of the Western football team.

After taking the lead, the Mustangs were unable to hold on as a last minute touchdown gave McMaster a 38-37 victory. This Saturday in Hamilton the Mustangs will have a chance to redeem themselves and spoil McMasters own Homecoming. The Mustangs (3-2) face the third ranked, unbeaten Marauders (5-0) at Les Prince Field.

Western is full of confidence having won two straight games in overtime against tough opponents. Last weekend the Mustangs spoiled Laurier's Homecoming with a 31-28 come-from-behind victory. After allowing Eric Medler to run for 330 yards against them in last week's game against Laurier, it will be important for the Mustang defense to contain the duo of Jesse Lumsden and Kyle Pyear, two of the top running backs in the country.

Western is battling for home-field advantage come playoff time and a win this Saturday would help their cause, as well as bolster their confidence heading in to the playoffs. The game will be broadcast live on The Score and can also be heard live on CHRW 94.9 FM starting at 2 p.m.
