Purple Pipe: Andy Taylor

This week, Gazette sports announces its inaugural winner for the 2003-04 edition of the world renowned "Purple Pipe" award. Basically, the Pipe equates to an "Athlete of the Week" type honour. To qualify for the Pipe, an athlete has to have a standout week statistically or come through in the clutch for his or her team.

Last Sat., Sep. 6, the Mustangs' football team trounced the Waterloo Warriors 62-12. A big part of that success was due to wide receiver Andy Taylor, who had three catches for 103 yards with his longest catch of 63 yards. By game's end, Taylor had scored three times and thus solidified his place as this year's first Purple Pipe winner.
