Hellboy not so hellish after all

After seeing how poorly complex characters like Daredevil and the Hulk were put on film, it’s easy to see how Hellboy fans would be worried that this intelligent, original and witty comic book would be “Hollywoodized” into a mainstream piece of junk.

You know you’re in trouble when you’re watching the film adaptation of the comic book Hellboy and you realize you’ve become the comic book guy from The Simpsons. “Worst adaptation ever,” you mutter as you watch Hollywood butcher another comic book.

Disney’s cherished studio hasn’t produced a worthy animated feature-length film in years. Progress peaked with 1999’s Tarzan, and has since steadily declined, from Atlantis and Lilo & Stitch, to last year’s bland Brother Bear.
