The men’s and women’s wrestling teams competed in the University of Toronto Open Wrestling tournament last weekend with impressive results.

Terri McNutt won gold in the women’s 53 kg competition, winning the gold over former Mustang Rachel Dean, now competing for Lakehead.

McNutt, the defending OUA champion, is undefeated this year and ranked third in Canada.
Rookie Jill McCallum earned another gold for the Mustangs in the 65 kg competition. She defeated Jodi Dykstra from Brock to earn the gold medal.

Lesley McCallum took home a bronze medal for Western in the women’s 57 kg.
On the men’s side, Seth Ross won a silver in the 57 kg category, losing the gold to Clint Kingsbury of Brock.

Western also got silver medals from Eric McAllister (76 kg) and from Al Bermingham (90 kg). Bermingham was also named Western’s wrestler of the tournament.

Ian Patton added a bronze medal for Western in the 130 kg weight class.
