Following the recent non-confidence vote for incumbent University Students’ Council VP-campus issues Pedro Lopes, four candidates are running for the position on next year’s Board of Directors.

The candidates are Senator Chad Callander, former health sciences assistant head soph Stefanie De Rossi, USC White Ribbon Commissioner James Arthurs and First Nations Commissioner Arzie Chant. (read more)

Huron dining staff strike continues

Strikers switch tactics, taking 'calm' approach; employer won't meet with union for at least a week

Members of Huron University College’s dining hall staff toned down their approach yesterday as they entered their second day of a strike for a new contract.

The strike started Monday after the staff, represented by Ontario Public Service Employees Union Local 144, couldn’t reach an agreement with its employer, Compass Group Canada, the dining hall’s manager and operator. (read more)

Western’s Muslim students can sleep in a little longer now that they don’t have to pack their lunches every day if they want to eat meat on campus. Some Halal food, or food permissible under Islam, is now available in several locations across campus. (read more)
