“A penny for your thoughts” and countless other expressions may no longer mean anything if a Winnipeg MP has his way.

Winnipeg Centre New Democratic MP Pat Martin introduced a private members’ bill in the House of Commons last Wednesday that could end production of pennies and eliminate them from circulation, while rounding prices for cash transactions to the nearest nickel. (read more)

City considers boulevard parking

New bylaw would allow end-of-driveway parking from May to October

A proposed change to London’s parking bylaws could save drivers from getting dinged with a $30 ticket.

Currently, the city has a bylaw prohibiting vehicles from blocking the sidewalk while parked in a driveway. (read more)

Fatty, fatty sleep-deprived

While most students assume the “frosh 15” is caused by drinking beer and eating pizza, a new study suggests lack of sleep is also a factor in weight gain.

The research, led by Jean-Philippe Chaput of Laval University, compared weight gain among short (five to six hours), average (seven to eight hours) and long (nine to 10 hours) duration sleeper groups. (read more)
