York University is still in the midst of a strike. Since Nov. 6, teaching assistants, contract faculty members and graduate assistants at the school have been off the job, leaving almost 50,000 undergraduate students out of class. (read more)

USC releases survey results

12-month bus pass receives 55 per cent support

A recent survey has revealed Western students want an on-campus grocery store, a 12-month bus pass and are more satisfied with the University Students’ Council’s services than four years ago.

The online questionnaire, conducted by the USC every four years, also revealed students are largely unaware of student awards and the USC’s political lobbying activities. (read more)

Thousands visit opening of new recreation centre

Inside of Western Student Recreation Centre

Following years of planning, referendums and complications, the Western Student Recreation Centre officially opened its doors to students this week.

The newest addition to Western’s campus includes five basketball courts, a 50-metre swimming pool, squash courts, lounge areas and a massive cardio/weight-training area flooded with state of the art equipment and soon to be lined wall to wall with plasma screens. (read more)
