Unless poster sales held in the University Community Centre are taken into consideration, there is a shockingly limited amount of art displayed around Western’s campus. Considering the fact that Western has a visual arts department comprised of talented and dedicated individuals, this is especially disappointing. (read more)

Popular television shows like Gossip Girl, The Office and The Daily Show attract millions of viewers per episode, but are they just indulgent entertainment or can they be considered art?

A definition of art would be a good starting point in determining whether popular television should in fact be considered art, but this is a nearly impossible task. (read more)

Initiative brings art to the centre of campus

The University Community Centre is the living room of campus, and living rooms should have art, according to University Students’ Council President Stephen Lecce.

The USC Student Public Art Program is a new initiative by Western’s Student Life department designed to offer an artistic venue for students and community members, while also creating a more vibrant and comforting atmosphere within the UCC. (read more)

Western visual arts professor Madeline Lennon often found herself astonished when teaching her first year visual arts class, as most students had never stepped foot in a gallery.
