Depression among university students is a growing concern.

Most would agree depression has been stigmatized. While existing perceptions are changing, preconceived notions still exist that depression isn’t a real illness and anyone suffering from it should suck it up. (read more)

On Monday, there was a booth in the University Community Centre urging students to fight to increase minimum wage from $8 to $10. The Ontario government recently announced it will raise minimum wage to $10. (read more)

Last summer, I turned down a dream job because it only paid minimum wage. The job was at a non-profit Toronto theatre company where summer students were hired through government grants. Because I couldn’t afford to come back to school making $271. (read more)
