Festival of the Arts

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

This week, the University Community Centre Atrium is abuzz with a number of artistic showcases.

The USC’s Festival of the Arts (FoA) is displaying features throughout the week, including music, student art, dance performances and live art.

FoA’s coordinator, Claire Van Wyk, has a positive outlook on the event.

“The response has been tremendous,” Van Wyk says. “So far we’ve had a terrific turnout. It’s nice to see people actively participating in a chance to uniquely express themselves.”

The FoA also has a variety of artistic photography and paintings on display.

“We have oil and pastel paintings, as well as a poetry wall where one can post a quote or an expression,” Van Wyk adds.

None of this would be possible without the contribution of talented Western students.

Today, MuchMusic’s Video On Trial comedian, Sabrina Jalees, will be performing her set at the Spoke at 2 p.m. followed by a Fashion Photo Shoot in the UCC Atrium.
