UK university offers degree in Beatles
There is no better way to honour a renowned musical group then to create a masters program devoted entirely to them in their hometown.

Last Tuesday, Liverpool Hope University announced the launching of a new masters program. The program is called Beatles, Popular Music and Society and its objective is to analyze the culture and society of music through the group’s work.

This program is the first of its kind in the world.

“Studying the band is really a way of examining society as a whole,” said Mike Brocken, a lecturer at the university.

“There have been over 8,000 books about the Beatles, but there has never been any academic study and that is what we are going to address,” Brocken added.

The 12-week course can be studied either part-time or full-time.

The program consists of four different modules that will link Beatles-related issues to current popular music and culture.
