Going Down Screaming
An integral piece of the puzzle is missing.
The jaws locked behind all the muzzles are hissing
The words to a song that you wish they’d forgotten.
Try to make nice, but your sweet has turned to rotten.
Good thing your mistakes do not draw attention
From televised celebrity drug interventions.

The hope for tomorrow in their eyes is gleaming,
But the doomed jet they’re riding is going down screaming
On a town where people who ought to know better
Wear networks of blindfolds and muse on the weather.
