A young man is dead and a Western student faces second-degree murder charges following a stabbing on the weekend.

According to Constable Joseph Van Der Klught of London Police Service, on Sunday morning police found 18-year old Atinder Singh with a single stab wound to the upper body.

Police said Kulvir Grewal, a first-year Western health science student originally from Brampton, is charged with second-degree murder.

Police apprehended Grewal after an attack dog tracked him near Western’s campus.

The incident occurred at 10 Ambleside Dr. at approximately 6:45 a.m., police said. Singh was found in the kitchen.

Singh was transported to London Health Sciences Centre in critical condition. Van Der Klught said Singh, visiting London from the Peel Region, died from his wounds shortly after 10 a.m. the same day.

Police said Singh and Grewal knew each other and were visiting the house.

Grewal appeared in court briefly yesterday; his lawyer requested the case be delayed until Feb. 5 pending additional information.
