Aye, bless St. Patrick for giving us cabs on his holy day
Students should have no trouble hailing a cab on St. Patty’s day now that London City Council agreed to reschedule the public session on proposed changes to London’s taxi industry.

Originally slated for March 17, the meeting has been moved in response to concerns raised by Aboutown Transportation Limited vice-president Jamie Donnelly that cabbies would have to sacrifice working on one of the busiest nights of the year to attend the meeting.

Council is expected to announce the new date for the meeting on Monday. “It will probably be in April,” Ward 4 councillor Stephen Orser said. “We are trying to accommodate everybody involved.”

The public session will address the proposed changes to the taxi industry that would lift limits on the number of accessible cab licenses.

The meeting will be held at Centennial Hall in order to accommodate everyone expected to attend, including many drivers and members of London’s disabled community. “We anticipate 300 to 400 people,” Orser said.
