Xbox punked, car gets 'trunked'

As the warm spring weather moved into town, an influx of criminal behaviour rocked the London community, not unlike a hurricane. From video game heists to crack-filled houses, the usual suspects were at it again.

This weekend, one hooligan took inspiration from various heist games and ran away from a video rental store with a stolen Xbox.

At around 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon, a 15 or 16-year-old suspect walked into a Rogers Video store brandishing a knife. The teenager threatened a female clerk before dashing off with the rentable game system.

However, the young man forgot to steal the controllers and games required to play the Xbox. The London Police Service is still looking for the culprit.

At about 2 a.m. Saturday morning, a group of young thugs attacked two people at the corner of St. James and Talbot streets.

Four male suspects approached the victims from behind and unleashed a barrage of fists and beer bottles on the two victims.

On Thursday afternoon, a north London home became the site of a hefty drug bust.

At 4 p.m., the LPS Drug Unit arrested two occupants of a stolen vehicle parked outside a home on Ambleside Drive.

In an attempt to escape, the driver accelerated in reverse and struck one officer. The panicked attacker then shifted into drive and struck a tree, forcing the two criminals to run from the scene. After a brief struggle with police, both suspects were arrested.

The cop suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result.

Inside the mangled vehicle, police found a kilo of powder cocaine, 32 grams of crack, and roughly $3,000.
