The return of Project L.E.A.R.N.
Partiers beware " Project L.E.A.R.N. is back with a vengeance.

The Liquor Enforcement and Reduction of Noise program started up last night and will run until Sunday, April 26 in the areas around Western, Fanshawe college and Richmond Row.

The project, previously known as Project Speakeasy, runs at the beginning and end of the Western/Fanshawe school year. The most recent Project L.E.A.R.N. dealt with everything from students drinking on their front porch to the wild bashes in the Fleming Drive area.

Western’s campus police will also have more of a presence over the next few weeks, according to the director of campus community police service, Elgin Austen.

“[Western] has hired officers to patrol the areas close to the school,” Austen said. “One each evening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from now until the end of the month.”

The project has come under fire in the past for allegedly being “targeted at students,” though the London Police service maintains the project simply aims to circumvent disruptive behaviour in the community.
