It wasn’t enough that he desecrated the bullpen last season during free agency, passing up arms for the bat of a player in his 40s.

It wasn’t enough he went on a spending spree without any noticeable improvement to his team.

It wasn’t enough he continues to stand by a coach who gets in fist fights with his players, and spent $55 million on an injury-plagued pitcher who, at the time, had a losing record.

And it sure as hell wasn’t enough he’s decided to stand pat this off-season despite boasting one of the most delightfully mediocre teams in baseball.

Now, J.P. Ricciardi is refusing to let go of Burnett’s brittle-as-glass arm and the $12-million salary that goes along with it.

Could he even find a suitor to pick up Burnett’s contract? I guess more inexplicable things have happened " for instance, Ricciardi still having a job.
