Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

It should be an exciting weekend of Mustangs action as teams are heading into the latter half of the winter schedule and vying for spots in the post-season.

On Saturday, the men’s hockey team will host the widely anticipated Jack Frost Cup. The third-ranked Mustangs will face the Ontario University Athletics Far West leader, the Laurier Golden Hawks. The game takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the John Labatt Centre.

The women’s volleyball team will need a home court win against the Brock Badgers on Saturday to hold on to first place, while the men’s volleyball team will also host matches at Alumni Hall this weekend against the Ryerson Rams and the Toronto Varsity Blues. In what is being called “Jam the Gym,” students wearing purple shirts will get free admission at Alumni Hall for the Saturday games.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are heading to Laurier this weekend. The teams are ranked first and second in the OUA West respectively. Both teams will be looking to advance their playoff pledges with victories against the bottom ranked Golden Hawks.
