Ravens still soaring while squash and hockey dominating OUA competition

Streaks are mesmerizing in sport. We follow teams anxiously wondering whether they can keep streaks alive or whether they will fall apart like the New England Patriots did in 2008. Losing streaks, however, are definitely not mesmerizing and are not something one enjoys keeping track of. But we did and discovered the team finished the season at 0-22.

UOIT women’s hockey team
Following in the tradition of losing is the University of Ontario Institute of Technology women’s hockey team, who did their best this season but only won three out of 26 games. Good news is on the horizon, however, as the team recently announced the appointment of former national team member Karen Nystrom as their new head coach.

Pier-Olivier Pelletier allowed five goals in 40 minutes last Saturday as his Waterloo Warriors were eliminated by the Lakehead Thunderwolves in the Far West quarter-final playoff series. After losing the first game in overtime, the Warriors indeed were hoping for a better finish than the thrashing they received.
