Hockey, basketball playoffs this weekend

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Saturday will be a great chance to get out and see some of our Mustangs battling in Ontario University Athletics playoff competition. The men’s basketball and hockey teams will be competing in their respective OUA divisional semi-finals.

The men’s basketball team will be playing the winners of yesterday’s Guelph versus Waterloo game. A win here would pave the way to an OUA West final series against either the Windsor Lancers or the McMaster Marauders. Tip off is at 3 p.m. in Alumni Hall.

The men’s hockey team will have a lot riding on Saturday evening’s game against the Mid West division champion York Lions. Depending on how yesterday’s series opener went, this game could be the deciding factor in whether or not the Mustangs head to the OUA West division finals or are finished for the season. Rookie forward Aaron Snow has been a force to be reckoned with this post-season, including a three point performance in the third game of the ’Stangs first round series against Guelph. Puck drop is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson Arena.

Tickets for each game are $5 for students and are available at the Alumni Hall box office.
