Volunteers

The Gazette needs volunteers!

The only daily student newspaper in Canada is right here on Western's campus and is published every Tuesday to Friday.

This means we rely on dozens of volunteers every year to keep the presses rolling!

Whether you are interested in writing, drawing or taking photos, we need your help!

It's extremely easy to get involved.

Just drop by Room 263 in the University Community Centre at any time.

Our editors will give you an assignment and help you step by step along the way.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

You can find us in:
Room 263 in the UCC

Here are just a few of the benefits of becoming a Gazette volunteer:

  • Free coffee!
  • Learn how to use old MACs!
  • Develop your writing skills
  • Learn how to conduct interviews
  • Investigate issues that interest you
  • Talk to people you normally wouldn't talk to
  • Learn how to use photography equipment and develop film
  • Become an encyclopedia of knowledge about your campus and community
  • See your name in print
  • Attend workshops given by professional journalists
  • Get clippings for journalism school applications
  • Pad your resume
  • Continue a tradition that has launched many Gazette alumni into major media outlets across Canada
  • Parties!
