USC Public Art Gallery

PAG Logo   MANDATE:
The USC supports the display of student centric art in the UCC that will strengthen the natural assets of the UCC, provide unique attractions at the UCC by acting as a constant delight to students and visitors to the UCC. Art celebrates and honours our unique expression of our culture, history, people, events and location while enhancing our vibrancy. Art impacts many aspects of our community and enriches daily life through visual experiences and attracts people to art-enriched places. Through the creation of a USC Public Art Gallery Program, the USC will provide cultural leadership, guide the evolution of a distinct and vibrant artistic character for the UCC, and ensure a visual legacy for the future.

Gallery Locations:
The USC is seeking artists to exhibit their art in two public spaces located in the University Community Centre.  One public art gallery space is located at the entrance of The Wave (2nd Floor, University Community Centre, The USC’s restaurant).  The second location is a display area shielded with Lexan, located on the second floor of the University Community Centre.  Please see jpegs of these locations by on the following link: Gallery Locations

Process for Submitting Art:
Digital images of art can be submitted by Artists via an on-line portal (see below for the live link to this portal).  Artists are encouraged to submit many images and as often as they wish but are asked to not submit the same art work twice.  Any two-dimensional medium can be submitted.  Art is selected for display by a jury composed of UWO students and member of the community.  Art pieces that are selected are required to be displayed for a four (4) to six (6) week period.  The jury will communicate selections to the USC Manager of Student Life who will then notify the artists and make arrangements for transportation of the art.  Artists shall be required to sign the waiver (click on link to review) attached.  There is no entry fee, hanging fee, or commissions.

Curating:
Members of the “Open House Arts Collective” will curate all art presentations.
