What is Tour de Frost?

Tour de Frost is Western’s official winter games. Teams of 10 students (minimum of 6) will compete in a series of outdoor and indoor challenges campus-wide.  The tour begins Monday February 7, 2011 in the University Community Centre with the raising of the flags.  Throughout the tour teams will compete in a variety of skill-testing events and physical activities.  Teams compete to earn points for sweet prizes and serious bragging rights.  The team who earns the most points at the end of the tour will win the coveted Tour de Frost CUP and some serious Tour de Frost paraphernalia.  The GRAND PRIZE will be announced at the all captains’ meeting on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 4:30pm in Council Chambers.

Who Can Participate?

The tour is open to all undergraduate students at Western. Build your team through friends, roommates, classmates, soph friends, club members, teammates…whatever! There are virtually no restrictions how you assemble your team. We can only take a limited number of teams so be quick and get your registration package in early.

Points and Scoring

The tour will host a number of challenges that will test your might, mind, and mania.  Each challenge requires a different number of team members and each team member must compete in at least one challenge. Teams are encouraged to compete in as many activities as possible, however it is not a requirement to compete in every challenge on the tour.

Teams are awarded points depending on how well they perform in each of the challenges.  The number of points and how they can be awarded varies with each event.  Points may be awarded by simply completing a task, or can be awarded in accordance to placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.) in a challenge.  Teams will also be assigned bonus points throughout the tour by Tour de Frost staff for demonstrating positive spirit, enthusiasm, and goodwill towards other teams.

    Team Registration

Teams must register to compete in the tour. All teams will compete in the same division and must register by Friday January 28, 2011 at 12:00pm. Teams must be comprised of a mix of genders, however no male:female ratio will be enforced.  Challenges are not gender-specific, as ones’ gender will not be a success factor during competition.   

Teams must register in person at the USC Front Desk, Room 340, UCC. Registration forms can be found online at www.tourdefrost.ca or picked up at the USC Front Desk or in the UCC atrium beginning January 17, 2011

All Tour de Frost teams must pay a team deposit of $50 to the USC Finance Office upon registering for the tour. This deposit acts as a performance bond for your team. Your team will be given a full refund at the end of the tour pending full participation in all of the challenges.
